I joined Hopscotch Fitness because I wanted to build up my energy levels and general fitness. The trainers took it slow and were happy to work within my limits. What is great about the trainers at Hopscotch is that they keep pushing me to do the exercises correctly! My main reservations before starting personal training were about my ability to make the changes I needed to get fit, and my ability to regularly make the sessions. So far I’ve had significant improvements in back / neck pain, mobility and my underlying fitness.

My top goal was to improve my lower back problems. I'd sorted it out with physio and a home training app previously but after a serious shoulder injury I gave everything up and needed some expert guidance and encouragement. Second and overall goal was to improve my strength, fitness and confidence, and to give me a safe basis for continuing bodyweight training at home, as I now know my technique was awful with the app and no one to steer me in the right direction. I love the mix of seriousness and social atmosphere at Hopscotch. I feel welcome every time I step through the door and I feel great when I leave. I think my top achievement has been that I've become so much more aware of my posture. My back is feeling stronger and there's very little pain these days because of the core work I've been doing too. I'm so thankful about how well and carefully I've been steered through training before and especially since my shoulder surgery. I think the prehab work we did helped with the recovery, and the exercises we've been doing while the arm is out of action are nicely varied and have all been beneficial. I also think the guidance I've had had helped me stay motivated to keep up the physio's daily rehab exercises. I reckon had I not been to Hopscotch I would have been so much lazier and more haphazard about it!

My goals before starting PT was to improve posture and strength. Wiki is always ready to answer all the questions I have and helps break down each exercise to make sure I understand what I’m doing. She makes each session fun! Wiki has been really encouraging and motivating. I’ve been able to see some real improvement with her help and it has been easy to stick to training. My top achievement so far has been waking up at 5am twice a week and actually doing the training! 😁

2024 - ** Update ** Yes! I'm still training at Hopscotch Fitness after 5 years. The team is terrific and absolute specialists. I've just taken part in the Menopause Training group - and it was fantastic. I've attended both small group training and individual sessions and I'm the fittest I've ever been. Thankyou++ 2019 Review I love coming here for the personal training! Best personal trainer in Melbourne! Wiki is an extremely experienced personal trainer and our sessions are always fun, challenging and dynamic. She absolutely knows her stuff and how to tailor exercises for individual needs. She's also super knowledgeable about many different aspects of health including nutrition and personal development. Highly recommend if you're looking for a personal traininer or some great small group training sessions too. Highly recommend Louise for myotherapy - she's the best myotherapist in Melbourne. I always feel soooo much more aligned, less sore, and relaxed after seeing her. Highly recommend!! She's definitely worth all the amazing reviews and recommendations that I've read in other forums too (that's how I found Louise.)

Amanda has been great in finding that balance between pushing and being mindful of my base fitness level, so that's awesome! I did have some reservations about the early mornings… But happy to report I've come around to it and am actually liking the extra time I get on days when I don't have training :) You were able to get me back into the routine of exercising and learn to prioritise my health… and get fit enough to not feel apprehensive about movement all the time. I'm loving that exercise is now in my routine and I'm excited to keep going and get to the next level of fitness in '24.

Callan greeted me and did thorough assessment before remedial massage to my back. Loosened things up nicely 👍🏻

A clean and organised studio in the back blocks of the light commercial area showing its roots with a datto 1600 in next door's parking area and a Penrite sticker on what I'd assume is the fuse box; The therapist was helpful and efficient. I opted for a remedial massage, targeting the areas I'd been struggling with, and a 'pay for it now, enjoy it later' approach. It worked spectacularly well, working out the niggles I'd had for months. Highly recommend.

Wiki is an amazing Personal Trainer. I am time poor, didn't have any kind of fitness regime and didn't know where to start. I love Wiki's holistic approach to health and fitness. She explained the importance of nutrition, water and sleep and formulated a simple exercise program for me to begin with. She also showed me carefully how to do each step correctly and made my healthy goal more simplified and achievable. I would definitely recommend her.

Just had an excellent remedial massage with Elise. She hit all the kinks and knots with the perfect amount of pressure. Highly recommended.

Semi-Private Training FAQ’s

By joining our supportive and encouraging semi private training sessions in Burwood, you’ll experience the power of shared motivation, camaraderie, and personalised attention from our experienced trainers. Together, we’ll help you overcome obstacles, gain more confidence, and achieve remarkable results.

You will have 3 sessions per week when you join our semi-private sessions. These sessions will run at specific times of the week. Come rain, hail or shine – we’re all in it together!

Do I need to do a fitness assessment before I start my group personal training?

Your initial fitness assessment is completed separate to the semi private personal training sessions. This allows us to paint a clear picture of your baseline from our PT starter pack. We can then create the path needed to reach your individual health and fitness goals.

Whether it be through proper nutrition or better movement, more sleep, less stress and smarter training; we are here to help you every step of the way.

I’m new to fitness training. Can I join a group as a beginner?

We design our semi private sessions to be challenging yet fun. There are regressions and progressions for ALL fitness levels.

When you start your training with Hopscotch Fitness, we always conduct an assessment first. This allows us to assess your baseline fitness level, and whether semi private training is the right approach for you.

In some cases, we may suggest you start with our 1-on-1 personal training sessions prior to joining the semi-private groups. This will allow our trainers to give you more direction on the correct techniques in a less distracting environment.

You’re then welcome to join our private group training as long as you’re willing to work hard and open to learn new skills that will help improve your health and fitness 🙂

How many people will be in my semi private training session?

Our Semi-private training sessions in Burwood are limited to a maximum of 4 people training per session.

But if you’re looking for a more private workout experience on your own, then check out our 1 on 1 personal training sessions instead.

How many training sessions should I complete per week?

Our semi private training programs run three days per week.  This is typically made up of one cardio based session per week and two strength training sessions.  But don’t worry, the strength training sessions will get your heart rate up too!

Whilst we run a number of sessions, you will always be training with the same group. This allows the trainer to get to know you and your needs, and you also get to know the people you’re training with.

There are a set combination of exercises that we do in each session. Our trainers are able to recommend variations to these exercises to make them easier or more challenging for you.

This personalised approach helps everyone in the studio achieve their own individual goals, at their own pace, whilst being a part of a community of like minded people.

Does your semi private training cater for pre-existing injuries?

Absolutely! Our team of experienced trainers understands that everyone comes from different fitness levels, skills, and even pre-existing injuries.

We focus on strength and mobility training that supports your body and helps to protect it from future injuries – even in a group setting.

We also offer Myotherapy and Remedial Massage services to help keep those pesky injuries at bay.

Do I need to adhere to a minimum time commitment for semi private training?

We offer multiple options starting with a minimum of 6 months when training with Hopscotch Fitness. This is not to be rigid with ‘lock in contracts’. It’s about building and developing a new and long-lasting habit that will serve you for the rest of your life.

We strongly believe that this type of training is a lifestyle change, not just a short-term fad. We want to help you get stronger, more agile and confident – and doing this properly takes time.

In saying that, we do offer different holding/extension times to help cater for when you need time off. The amount of holding time will depend on the length of package you have with us.

So, if you’ve been unwell (or off on a well-deserved holiday 🙂 ) we can temporarily suspend your training program with sufficient notice and arrange makeup sessions before and after your break.
